#atitd channel rules #atitd is an egenesis sponsored channel. its purpose is to provide a channel for players of A tale in the desert to have a with comfortable place to chat, as well as provide important developer-player interaction. As with all public forums, a few rules are necessary to keep the channel a nice place to be. feedback is *always* welcome on rules/policys. first, a couple network rules. these rules are listed at http://chat.stratics.com/content/community/policies.php the most relevant ones are listed below, and apply to all channels on the stratics network. * NO pornography or adult material * NO "warez" or exchanges of known copyrighted material * NO racism/hate speech * NO fileserver bots * Please do not harass the network operators/staff #atitd rules * no spamming non-game related websites * keep the spamming of in-game material to a minimum. if nobody answers you, they probably don't have whatever you are looking for anyways. * no excessive caps lock, colors, or cut and pastes. if its more than 5 or so lines long, its probably better discussed on the forums. * no personal attacks. this is vague, but its supposed to be. it will be tolerated to a large degree as long as you are talking about an *in-game character*. we love a good argument in #atitd, but if it gets personal or spammy we will ask you to take it to a private message. * Listen to the channel staff. if we ask you to stop doing something, please listen. if you disagree with a staffers decision, please discuss it in a private message. * no trolling. intelligent discussion is always welcome. * no discussion of GM abuse. this is a VERY VERY serious matter, and deserves immediate private attention by egenesis. You should contact them quickly and directly via private message or telephone. * no impersonation, or similar nicknames to egenesis staff, or channel operators. Bot policy Bots are okay, but are not exempt from the above rules. If you have a unique and useful bot that needs exemption to these rules, please contact an operator. Channel operator policy. The channel operators are all egenesis staff, Game Masters, or longtime players. its our stated mission to keep the channel a nice place, safe from spammers, and trolls. We make every effort to have an open policy, and always welcome feedback. Channel operators are expected to follow the guidelines listed below: * all operators must keep full logs, including private messages * all bans must be posted to the (private?) IRC staff forum with full relevant logs * if you are away from irc for an extended period of time, please de-op, or mark yourself as afk (?) * keep the topic. umm.. topical :) the first half of the topic is static (mostly FAQ's), the second half is current events/news. Dealing with problematic users First warning: ask them politely in a private or public message Second warning: kick the user from the channel with a clear kick message Third warning: a default 24 hour "cooling off" ban Consistently problematic users will receive a permanent ban. this can only be lifted by egenesis staff or the Channel Administrator If you think an operator has treated you unfairly, you may appeal by contacting the Channel Administrator, or any member of the operator staff and it will be brought up for discussion. Please do NOT contact egenesis directly unless you are advised to do so, or are unsatisfied with the CA's decision.
